We only had one day in Olympic National Park, so I planned a full day from sunrise to sunset. My dad was a great sport for this jam-packed day.
The night before we stayed in this little cabin on Lake Sutherland.
It was adorable, although the loft could have used a more thorough cleaning. Since I used Wyndham points to book this through Vacasa, I was happy with our stay.
We started our morning with a hike to Marymere Falls I liked the tunnel and bridge to the waterfalls.
Although my dad had reached his limit once we reached the falls, luckily our next hike wasn’t until after lunch.
After a pit stop, where I found this interesting piece of political literature.
We were on our way to Twilight Land!
My dad got some coffee in werewolf territory, just outside forks.
We explored Rialto Beach.
We stopped in Forks.
We drove to Hoh Rainforest to walk the hall of mosses after lunch.
I loved the Hall of Mosses, it felt like we were in Fern Gully.
For most of the rest of the day, we drove down the coast to Quailt Lake. It was drizzling and my dad was asleep in the car. It was so atmospheric like I was alone in this magical place.
Once we made it to Quailt Lake, we stopped for a few pictures but luckily my dad was asleep for most of the drive around the lake. I found out the day before that narrow roads that look down to a lake make him very nervous, which is why I drove almost the whole day. I had loads of fun though, I love slow winding scenic roads.
By the time we were headed back up the coast daylight was running out. I knew we only had time for one more beach before sunset so I headed to Ruby Beach.
We made it maybe 25 minutes before sunset.
Luckily it was also low tide.
I wanted to see Tide Pools last year in Acadia with my mom, so I was thrilled to see them with my dad on the West Coast.
Although the tide rose fast.
We had a perfect day in Olympic National Park and saw a huge portion of it. It was definitely worth the late dinner after driving back.
