Honorable Mention Ferrero Rocher, Parisi Passage Budapest

This was so goood! I was expecting a nut center so the caramel surprised me.
5. Gelarto Rosa, Budapest

It’s very cute but I wasn’t expecting it to taste so great. I had Limoncello and White Chocolate Lavender.
4. Gelupo, London

This was so much better than I thought it would be. I had strawberry and Liguria. Liguria was basil, mascarpone, and pine nuts. The strawberry was great, just like I’ve had in Italy. Liguria was so refreshing! the basil came through so beautifully and the mascarpone gave it this hint of sweetness.
It’s on the edge of Soho and Chinatown so next time I would go earlier in the day. There wasn’t a wait but the streets of Soho on a Friday night was too crowded for me.
3. Zanoni and Zanoni, Vienna

This was a recommendation from my cousin. They have a ton of flavors and I was so excited when I saw they had Chestnut! I got Chestnut and Dark Chocolate. It was so yummy!! The chestnut flavor was so light had subtle. It paired great with the Dark Chocolate. The Dark Chocolate tasted like dark chocolate pudding. I came back a second time. I might have returned more times if I didn’t have to fight through the rain to get there.
2. Pear cake, Van Kerkwijk Amsterdam

This was the main thing I wanted to return to in Amsterdam. It’s still amazing!! Last time they served it with ice cream but the soured cream is so much better. I really wish the US had soured cream. It’s a sweet cream that’s slightly soured. the tangyness is like nothing I’ve tasted before.
It would of made #1 if I hadn’t found my new favorite cake later on my trip.
1. Esterházy Cake, Parisi Passage Budapest

I knew I wanted to try Esterházy Cake when I was in Budapest but it exceeded all my expectations! It’s a walnut vanilla cake but it tasted like cookie dough!!! I don’t know how but It’s the best cake I’ve ever tasted.
I didn’t have time to try it in other cafes in Budapest but I wanted it again so I looked for it in Vienna. I went to multiple cafes in Vienna and it wasn’t the same. None of them were right, either there the frosting layers were too thick of the cake was almond instead of walnut. Also the hot chocolate wasn’t as good either.
I’m going back to Budapest partly for the food and when I do I plan on going cafe hopping to find which one has the best Esterházy Cake!!!
