This Trip is exciting because it is the first trip that I planned completely by myself. I’ve always wanted to explore more of New England, especially in autumn.

My mom and I left a few days after my birthday, so the first stop in Toronto I treated like an extended birthday treat. Once we were downtown, we started biking on the lakeshore. There are bike lanes there with their own traffic lights! It was a very windy September day, so although it was fun we tired out quickly.

We stopped at a Tibetan shop for momos and lassi and went to a pub for their last butter tarts. Ketchup chips and butter tarts are essential whenever I’m in Canada. After our snack stop, we biked back to our car and headed to the hotel. The film festival just ended so rush hour traffic was hectic but we stayed at the Hyatt Regency downtown so we wouldn’t have to drive until morning.

The hotel was a little dated but the service was amazing. I emailed the hotel beforehand asking for something for my birthday and this was the nicest treat I’ve received, I’ve used this a few times before.

We were exhausted from the drive and the bike ride but luckily dinner was just a few blocks away.

King St was packed but WVRST seemed to be the first stop for a night out so it wasn’t full until we were leaving. WVRST is a beer hall with bratwurst made of different types of meat at a great price and an extensive list of beers and ciders. It was just what we needed, only complaint was the steep steps upstairs. We had to order up front but the bartender was great and walked my mom through her beer selections.

It was a great first. We were in high spirits the next morning with no idea that it would be the start of our next few days of travel mishaps.
